Out of Bounds: Drone Visual Challenge

Students at the Academy of Art are invited to compete in an altitude-defying drone challenge with free admission to the Red Bull and CyberLink supported exhibit and award ceremony, Friday, October 21st.

Out of Bounds is a challenge of stratospheric skill that’s sure to get your creativity flowing and your spirits soaring! In this first ever collegiate drone photography competition and exhibit (supported by Red Bull and Cyberlink), the Academy of Art’s ace pilots will have the opportunity to truly get their heads in the clouds—and stay there. Competing students will be able to enter the contest as a team of two or as an individual, taking upon themselves to rise to the following photographic tasks:

• Best Zoom Out – Start with a product shot of a can of Red Bull, followed by max altitude zoom out that leads the audience to an environment fitting to the can. • Best Long Exposure – Capture something the eye doesn’t normally see. • Free For All –

• Free For All – Create a 30-second video that takes advantage of a specific San Francisco location during sunrise.

The challenges will be judged on three criteria: originality, visual impact, and storytelling. The winner will be selected by judges Matt O’Brien, participant of Red Bull Illume collegiate workshop; Patrick Egan, Editor at sUAS and Drone Production Professor at the Academy of Art; and Richard Carriere, Senior VP of Global Marketing for Cyberlink.
Students’ drone footage will be displayed as gorgeous wall to wall panoramas at the beautiful 111 Minna Gallery on Friday October 21st starting at 6pm. After you’ve explored the exhibition, have a drink at the in-house bar and keep the party flying high on the dance floor with our killer DJ, Niclas Långsten.

Out of Bounds: Drone Visual Challenge, is free to attend and open to the public. For more information and to RSVP to the event visit outofbounds.splashthat.com
