Drone Training Introduced for Rope Access IRM Contractors

Rigg-Access has teamed up with UAV-Air, a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Nationally Qualified Entity (NQE), to provide specialist drone training solutions to the Inspection Repair and Maintenance (IRM) industry. UAV-Air offers a 3-day training course designed by a team of Commercial Airline Pilots, and Professional Drone Operators that will allow Rope Access technicians and companies to gain CAA Permission for aerial work.

John Gore from UAV-Air explains “Whether an individual operator looking to add a drone to their toolbox, or an organisation looking to employ, train, and deploy teams of drone operators, Rigg-Access and UAV-Air have worked together to provide the training which will become the industry standard.
The courses range from the standard Unmanned Aerial Qualification, to bespoke courses designed to train existing Specialist Surveyors.”

”Drones offer an enhancement to Rope Access departments; they provide a rapid means of assessment that will lead to a greater volume and frequency of work for IRM companies.
As emerging technology, UAV’s are likely to provide a greater platform for exposure for Industrial Rope Access and as a consequence, a greater understanding of how in concert both disciplines provide a significant time and cost benefit for clients, when maintaining their assets and infrastructure.
We are excited to be partnering with UAV-Air, in what may prove to be a pivotal point in the development of commercial UAV use.” said Rigg Access director Martin Smith.
