RPAS Training Academy and Delta Drone Africa have the pleasure to announce the creation of a joint- venture named The Drone Consortium, aimed at combining their expertise to train RPAS pilots in South Africa using Delta Y and Delta X systems designed and manufactured by Delta Drone.

RPAS Training Academy is an SACAA (South Africa Civil Aviation Authority). Based at Wonderboom Airport close to Johannesburg, the company is managed by Mr. Albert Drijfhout, an engineer who graduated in Physical Sciences from the University of Stellenbosch.

The training curriculum developed by RPAS Training Academy lasts two and a half weeks and includes theoretical training in 9 modules (integrating the preparation for the radio license) on the one hand, and a practical training run on Klippan RPAS training airfield, registered with SACAA (South Africa Civil Aviation Authority) on the other. The skills validation exam falls under SACAA’s authority.

The specific training to pilot the Delta Y (fixed wings) and Delta X (multirotor) systems shall rely on the collaboration between RPAS Training Academy and EFD – Ecole Française du Drone (French Drone School), a subsidiary of Delta Drone SA dedicated to training.

The drone systems will be provided by Delta Drone Africa, a South African company based in Johannesburg, in charge of marketing professional solutions and Delta Drone drones in South Africa and Southern Africa.

Delta Drone Africa is managed by Mr. Richard Sanz, who has more than fifteen years’ experience in the distribution and sale of professional equipment, especially to the mining industry.

During the signing of The Drone Consortium contract, Mr. Albert Drijfhout declared: «the partnership with a French Group listed on the stock exchange that has a genuine strategic commitment towards development, especially in South Africa, is a major additional advantage for RPAS Training Academy. The experience of our partner in France will definitely bring added value in terms of expertise. Finally, being able to train remote pilots on systems which will then be sold corresponds with a logical value chain. »

While commenting on the stakes of this agreement, Mr. Richard Sanz declared: « for Delta Drone, the creation of The Drone Consortium is a major opportunity to partner with a leading South African stakeholder in the emerging sector of civilian drones for professional use and to build trusting relationships with all future drone operators. This link is all the more relevant since Delta Drone Africa has programmed the marketing launch of the delta Y and delta X drones as from 2016. The systems proposed to the clients may include a subscription to deltadrone Cloud Information System©, a worldwide exclusive tool guaranteeing the full management of all the assignments carried out, in accordance with local regulations and the safety of people and goods.»
