The 2016 New York City Drone Film Festival (NYCDFF) will be held March 4th through March 6th 2016 at the Directors Guild of America Theater and the Liberty Science Center. Submissions for the festival are due by 11:59pm on December 31, 2015. To submit a film, visit www.nycdronefilmfestival.com

The schedule for the three-day event is as follows:

Friday, March 4 NYC Drone Film Festival Opening Night Party (venue TBA)

Saturday, March 5 Day: Seminars on Drones and Drone Filmmaking Evening: Red Carpet, Screening and Award Ceremony at the DGA Theater

Sunday, March 6 Morning: Fly-In with the NYC/NJ Drone Users Group at Liberty Science Center Afternoon: Screening of the 2016 NYCDFF at the Liberty Science Center IMAX Theater

The NYCDFF is the world’s first event exclusively dedicated to celebrating the art of drone cinematography.

The festival provides a platform for aerial filmmakers to showcase their work, shot anywhere in the world, emphasizing innovative flight technique and aesthetic beauty. The festival offers an international platform for filmmakers from every corner of the globe to exhibit their work in front of industry professionals and the drone cinema fan community.

The NYCDFF was the focus of a 90-minute TV special on AXS TV hosted by festival founder and director Randy Scott Slavin. Slavin was recently named one of 7 Creative Rebels You Need To Know Right Now by Thrillist. The festival was also featured on Good Morning America and CBS Sunday Morning.

Awards will be presented in eleven categories: Narrative, X-Factor, Technical, Freestyle FPV, Landscape/Architecture, Showreel, Dronie (the drone selfie), Audience Choice, Best in Show and two new categories for 2016, Extreme Sports and Stills.

Last year’s winners include Corridor Digital’s Superman with a GoPro, OK GO’s I Won’t Let You Down and Tarsicio Sanudo Suarez’s Mexico City International Airport from Above.
