Ohio company could soon be delivering packages by drone

Workhorse, a research and design company with offices in Loveland, has been testing drone deliveries since October.

WLWT was invited to get a look at the company’s testing.

Workhorse representatives said that the average delivery truck costs $1 per mile. They said drone deliveries are far cheaper at 30 cents per mile.

“We’re doing the first approved FAA test flight of a delivery system in the United States,” Marty Rucidlo, President of the Workhorse Group, said. “We can attach a drone from a truck and deploy it from that truck. Not only get it there quickly, but less expensively while using less CO2.”

The University of Cincinnati has also been a partner in the drone testing.
