VPS first company authorised to carry out drone business activities in Dubai

On September 28, VPS was recognised by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) as an approved commercial drone entity under new laws regulating RPAS/UAV/drone business activities (introduced in April this year).

This recognition makes VPS the first company legally permitted to carry out commercial drone-related activities in Dubai. Such activities can include product demonstrations, the importation and the resale of drone systems.

“We are delighted to become Dubai’s first approved practitioner of RPAS, UAV and drone business activities,” said Philip Angell, owner & managing director of VPS. “This means that future commercial RPAS operators are able to purchase a senseFly drone, such as an eBee or eXom, from us, while also receiving expert advice on how to officially register their aircraft and getting the training required to meet the minimum standards stipulated by the DCAA. The implementation of the new law by DCAA adds value to the whole supply chain. It ensures that only the best products make it to market and that end users receive the correct training and certification needed to get the very best experience and results from these products.”

VPS’ authorisation was awarded by the head of the DCAA’s Aviation Regulations & Safety Standards & Regulations Department.
