Topcon GB & Ireland, the positioning partner for geo-businesses, has added a new unmanned aerial system (UAS) to its product range to give customers greater precision and flexibility for survey and mapping applications.

The Falcon 8 has been created to offer a versatile system that is capable of both inspection and survey tasks in challenging environments. With its rotary-wing system and robust design, the UAS can take off and land in almost any location and is fully operational in extreme weather conditions. It is also resistant to temperature variations and will make automatic compensations in heavy winds, reducing the need for pilot corrections.

Mat Kellett, mapping & OEM sales manager at Topcon GB & Ireland, said: “The Falcon 8 has been built to be intuitive to help our customers get the job done easier and quicker, especially in difficult locations.

“Smart features such as the flight planning software and a compact, lightweight design mean that pilots can spend less time and effort on complex survey projects, without sacrificing performance and precision. It also has adaptive flight control which continuously monitors the system to ensure a seamless flight.”

With two models available, the GeoEXPERT and the InspectionPRO, the Falcon 8 can be used for a wide range of applications including geodata capture, agricultural projects and structural inspection and monitoring.

The Falcon 8 is powered by leading UAS developer, Ascending Technologies, and complements the Sirius Pro, Topcon’s original fixed-wing UAS.
