Sioux City, IA  (ABC9 News)  A Siouxland photographer hosted an introduction class to drones today, discussing the growing popularity of the unmanned aerial vehicles.  The program covered everything from safety training to legal requirements as well as information on different types of drones.  There was also a live demonstration.  Enthusiasts say UAV’s are a great way to enjoy flying for far less money than other aerial hobbies.

“It’s almost a freedom to be able to fly for that kind of money.  I mean you can get some of the…some of the thrill and the fun of doing that and as long as you follow the rules, stay at a low reasonable level…and don’t put anyone at risk…um…it’s very rewarding,” said Larry Crabb, UAV hobbyist.

To show the device’s capabilities, Crabb flew his drone outside the center, capturing images of the building and the surrounding Missouri riverfront area.
