Unmanned Autonomous Systems (UAS) are positioned for exponential growth in commercial use over the course of the next decade. There have been extensive advancements in the military and consumer use of these systems and the market for them is continuously expanding into many areas that affect our daily lives.

The benefits of drones in commercial applications are evident, and if commercial drone use is approved, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) expects as many as 30,000 drones to be operational by 2020. This is an extremely important topic in the aviation industry and a great many businesses seek to take advantage of drone technology. Commercial use of drones gives companies the potential to explore traditional and non-traditional avenues.

 

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act, signed in 2012, requires the FAA to develop regulations for the licensing of commercial drones by September 2015. Until then, drones are already in use in non-commercial applications such as border surveillance by government agencies, as well as in scientific and university research and public safety, etc.

This next gen drones session with expert speaker Patrick Egan will cover the latest technical advancements in unmanned systems and their commercial applications.
