I keep seeing RPAS flights that make me cringe, Instagram user @yengnasir (who has pulled his content) is my new winner.

He flew his DJI Phantom Vision 2 at the landing end of the runway at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. According to Wikipedia, KLIA is Malaysia’s main international airport and one of the major airports of South East Asia. It is ranked the eleventh busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic.

It really is time that no fly zones were properly enacted by all manufacturers using a centralized common database. The actions of inexperienced thrill seekers are endangering a major industry. Enough money is kicking about to make this possible.

Why is such a busy airport not on DJI’s list? One would think you would start with #1 and work down. At the moment it seems countries that have major incidents move to the front of the queue. Slightly unfair to call out DJI as to date they are the only manufacturer with a mandatory No Fly system.

Its not a popular opinion but I think in 2015 platforms should be locked down by manufacturers with unlock codes available from aviation authorities for correctly licenced individuals that are permitted to fly in town and or controlled airspace.

Lets as an industry head off a major incident or accident before it happens. Birds have an interest in getting out of the way and don’t contain metal.

Think I’m completely wrong, pop on over to our G+ or Facebook pages to put me right.
