Sky-Futures recognised for excellence & dramatic cost savings

Edge awards –inspired excellence.   

Sky-Futures had an enjoyable evening out in London last week, Wednesday 4th December, having been shortlisted as finalists for the BG Edge Awards 2014. They were shortlisted in the Technical Innovation category. The Edge awards by BG group, the international exploration and production and LNG Company, were newly founded in order to award excellence within their assets, functions and joint ventures across the business. They celebrated the great work teams across the business do to deliver value and meet their business objectives.

Sky-Futures were honoured to be recognised for our contribution to their business. As a valued client, the benefits they gain from the service and their opinion on it is very important to us. The award nomination was a direct result of the significant cost savings delivered to BG Group internationally by the Sky-Futures (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) UAV inspection service. A recent project in North Africa saved over USD $3.75m inspecting online flares. It is a fantastic honour to be recognised by BG Group for the direct and substantial benefits gained from utilising our service.

There was a particular emphasis on BG Group driving their business forward at the awards, as well as delivering the group value for money. It was for these reasons we were shortlisted for an innovation award.  It recognised the benefits of implementing new tools such as our UAV for more efficient completion of inspection projects. Critically the benefits gained from such new technology and techniques include increased safety which the company recognises as integral to any of their operations within the industry.

The awards aim to drive excellence by changing the way the company seeks out, shares and celebrates the best work going on across their business. The awards replace the previous Chief Executive and Chairman’s Awards with a single inclusive programme. Five areas are focused on, each designed to represent a different aspect of the business which is critical to their success including; Collaborative Working, Environmental and Social Performance, Operational effectiveness and excellence, Safe delivery and asset integrity and finally Technical innovation. Sky-Futures were only one of three other nominated companies shortlisted by the judging panel from across the entire BG Group.

Sky-Futures are very pleased with the recognition their service has received so far this year. We look forward to 2015 and building on our successes of 2014!
