Fareham College’s Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training. (CEMAST) has partnered with AV8 UAS Solutions to deliver enrichment programs for students alongside its already successful course packages.

CEMAST runs Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical Engineering and Manufacturing courses that have recently been relocated to the new campus at Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent. The site is the central training facility for over 900 Full Time and Part Time Students, and also acts as the main learning centre for students in apprenticeship programmes with its partner companies – BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Virgin Atlantic, Coopervision, Burgess Marine, Jensen Motorsport to mention but a few.

CEMAST offers students the opportunity to develop experience and understanding of technical subjects while training in an industry-leading environment. The focus is to provide all of the knowledge that a student will need to enter their chosen field and effectively prepare them for work and/or higher study.

AV8 UAS Solutions have extensive knowledge in the system design, manufacture, management, implementation and operation of Unmanned Systems across the full spectrum of platform types. Pertinent to this partnership, all members have individually gained thousands of hours of flying, building and maintaining of Unmanned Air Systems and all are highly qualified instructors, teachers, trainers and coaches.

Together CEMAST and AV8 UAS will be running an Enrichment programme to introduce students to the technology and functionality behind the systems. They will be given the opportunity to fly and operate the UAS and understand the diverse opportunities that exist for their use.

“Combining our two entities is a game changing step up in the current UAS provision of education that will prove second to none. Currently most of the study for Unmanned Systems is directed at those looking towards degrees. We want to encourage the students to become involved and further their careers at an earlier stage. The enrichment program seeks to enhance the courses students are currently involved in and give them more options in choosing their career path of the future. These emerging technologies provide many openings for those who wish to pursue them, ”said Mick Davidson, Managing Director of AV8 UAS.
