Congratulations to Duran, Alexa and the team at SteadiDrone for scooping up yet another award.

The winners of the 2014 Sanlam Knysna Awards were announced at a spectacular awards evening at the Simola Hotel on evening of 6th November. The capacity audience of 130, made up of nominees, their families and friends plus representatives from the event’s major sponsors, were treated to a Champagne and sushi reception, fabulous live entertainment and a three-course dinner.

Enthusiastically compéred by Eleanore Bouw-Spies and popular racing commentator and raconteur Francois Wolfaard, the evening was a fitting culmination of six months’ hard work by the organisers from local web design company Sozo Digital Agency & Sanlam. An improved and more streamlined public participation process resulted in three times the number of votes being cast than last year.

The three finalists in each category were presented with a certificate, whilst the winner additionally receiving an engraved floating plaque.

Two further awards were presented by the sponsors in recognition of outstanding contributions by local personalities:

The Sanlam Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to businessman Duran de Villiers of SteadiDrone. He and his young technical team have put Knysna firmly on the hi-tech map with his groundbreaking development and manufacture of ‘drones’ with cameras that are now being exported around the globe.
