Abel Cine hosts The Society of Aerial Cinematography

soac

Since 2013, the Society of Aerial Cinematography has been hosting events to educate and entertain our guests about the world of aerial cinematography.  We welcome you to join us once again at Abel Cine in Burbank, CA. and participate in the discussions with experienced industry professionals covering topics that will benefit everyone from the enthusiast to the well-established cinematographer

You do not have to be involved with or even own multi rotors  to get something out of these events.  Our discussions cover many aspects of production and post production and have something of value for everyone.  What you learn at our events can help your production on the ground and in the air.

Come learn about the current state of regulations from the Academy of Model Aeronautics Mr. Rich Hanson.  SOAC members Lucien Miller and Gus Calderon will be on hand to discuss why aviation experience is essential for conducting unmanned aircraft operations.  SOAC member Ty Audronis of Audronis Media will deliver some flight techniques to help you save time in post production as well as some visual effects techniques to help you stabilize and save a shot.

Mr. Tom Hallman of Pictorvision will share his experiences going through the process of filing for the exemption to operate under section 333.  Tom and his company are very well respected in the motion picture community.  They were granted the exemption along with 6 other companies recently and are getting ready to take flight under the exemption soon.

Many additional presenters will be on hand to discuss production, technology and share their work with you.  You will have access all day to a pool of talented cinematographers, visual effects artist, editors and colorists as well as multi rotor pilots and technicians of course.

Our hosts for the day Abel Cine will have the showroom open and representatives on hand to answer all your questions about most of the popular cameras on the market!  Our friends from Canon and Panasonic will be in house with their latest offerings and representatives from Apple will also be available to demonstrate and discuss helpful Final Cut Pro X workflows to get your footage from the camera through editorial and color and back up to the cloud for a wide audience to appreciate.

We welcome DJI to our event!  They will be  joining us to discuss the evolution of the multi rotor and to inspire us with some amazing footage all shot using their popular line of multi rotors!  If you’ve ever wondered how to get started capturing the world from a new perspective, this is your perfect opportunity to find out.

Last but certainly not least the President of the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600Steven Poster, ASC and Business Representative, Western Region Michael Chambliss will be presenting the guilds view on aerial cinematography from an artists point of view as well the guilds view on safety and training for the community.  Those of you have been to our previous events know that we are huge supporter of the Local 600.  These gentlemen are keeping a close eye on aerial cinematography trends and are very much supportive of where it’s going.

We will be collecting gifts for the Toys for Tots Foundation.  Please bring an unwrapped toy valued at $5.00 or more for an extra ticket to the give away.
