Aerialtronics sets new benchmark with Altura Nucleo+

nucleo

Aerialtronics announces the Nucleo+. A new, fully digital version of Aerialtronics previous Dupla Vista sensor box that features real-time, massive on-board processing power. The Nucleo+ offers both a 1080p HD daylight camera with up to 16x zoom and 30 fps as well as a calibrated 50 fps high resolution thermal camera.

The Nucleo+ is particularly useful to customers who require multiple sensors during one flight and desire on-board processing power to perform specialist operations, like mapping, security and inspection.

Switching

The key advantage of the Nucleo+ is that it has access to two sensors at the same time. This makes remote controlled switching between the two sensors possible.

Overlay
With the Nucleo+, daylight, infrared and thermal images can be overlaid and transmitted in combination with mission data such as flight time, GPS location, speed- and imaging settings as well as vehicle status data like orientation and battery level. In addition, all the data can be safely stored on the 128bit AES encrypted on-board SSD.

Onboard Processing
The Nucleo+ is equipped with a small on-board computer that features a flexible FPGA and a powerful Linux-based processor that allows for real-time image processing.
The system was developed in cooperation with partner 3D-One, who provide innovative measurement solutions to customers like the European Space Agency (ESA) and EADS (Airbus Group).

Cloud
The next step is to unlock the Nucleo+ full potential by connecting it to the cloud and making it part of the Internet of Things. Aerialtronics is working hard in the background to make this happen. The cloud will allow for the acquired data to be further analysed, stored, shared and compared with other sensors.

Software Development
The Software Development Kit (SDK) will become available to a number of selected development partners to access the massive on-board processer, thus enabling applications like on-board image stitching, object tracking, filtering and image overlaying.

Nucleo’s features:

  • Thermal measurements
  • HD Daylight recordings (16xzoom)
  • Infrared recordings (640×480)
  • Remote Image overlaying
  • Remote Sensor switching
  • SSD storage
  • Remotely controlled (2.4Ghz)

Nucleo’s future software features:

  • Facial recognition
  • Path recognition
  • Object recognition
  • Automatic onboard image stitching
  • Cloud integration
