Oshkosh got the whole package

Manchester-Oshkosh1

The brief was to showcase the capability of these brand new fire fighting beasts at Manchester Airport… wow what amazing vehicles.

Manchester Airports’s fire service has taken delivery of 6 new state of the art Oshkosh Global Striker vehicles, as part of a £4.2 million investment into the airport fire operations.

Safety is always a priority, as we were operating on a live airfield we conducted a number of tests. One of which was to use a tethered UAV next to the airports radar to ensure there was no interference with the UAV flight controller. All systems checked out with no glitches, so permission was granted to film airside.

Working closely with the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) to gain access to Runway 05R whilst Runway 05L was in full operation, we launched to the skies. The aerials shots were captured by our Hexacopter equipped with a Panasonic GH3 and the ground shots on our handheld gimbal. We directed the crew and scenes on the day and of course night, then fully produced the video in-house where our skilled editor carefully crafted the footage.

I’m sure you will agree, capturing the vehicles from a different perspective, whilst in action, really show cases their capabilities. Skypower was the first UAV company to operate on a live airfield, airside (on a runway). We are really proud that our pedigree and experience allowed us to achieve this.

Here’s what our client had to say:

“Thank you, it looks fantastic, I can’t wait to see the reaction at the grand reveal – I know the lads were really excited about it when I saw them last week, 5 mins of fame and all!

Really appreciate the effort everyone put in!

Great working with you!”
