Operation and Certification of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)
Abstract: This rulemaking would adopt specific rules for the operation of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) in the national airspace system. These changes would address the classification of small unmanned aircraft, certification of their pilots and visual observers, registration, approval of operations, and operational limits in order to increase the safety and efficiency of the national airspace system.

It’s been 2 years, 8 months, 5 days according to our Miss-o-Matic since I stopped changing it every time a new date was published. That counter used to reflect the time until the NPRM not after a missed date. I have forgotten how many times I changed it.

In those almost three years perhaps the most successful civil commercial RPAS system has landed.

The DJI Phantom has moved to version three of its design and is selling thousands every month in the USA.

Is it just not time to stop trying re inventing the wheel and adopt Canadian, Australian or UK regulations for RPAS and carry on?
