Pillsbury has launched an interdisciplinary legal team focused on unmanned aircraft systems (UASs), which is led by Kenneth Quinn, former US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief counsel.

Pillsbury’s UAS focus team comprises lawyers who are recognised authorities in practice areas and sectors critical to this industry, including aviation, international trade, communications, privacy/data security, finance and technology.

The team counsels clients across multiples industries on the licensing and operation of UASs. The team represents developers and manufacturers of UAS technologies and has assisted research and development personnel at universities in exploring the use of UASs to gather geographical data from inaccessible regions.

Pillsbury lawyers have also advised telecommunications clients looking into the use of UASs to make telephone signals accessible in remote areas and clients in the entertainment industry on the potential use of UASs in film and television production.

In addition, they are assisting Fortune 100 companies in mapping technology and are providing guidance on current and upcoming enforcement and rulemaking changes.
