Daytona Beach, Fla., Feb. 5, 2014 – Professionals looking to gain a better understanding of the emerging unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) industry can take advantage of a two-day course being offered in Las Vegas Feb. 27 to 28 by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.

Topics to be discussed include: introduction and impact of UAS; UAS designs; legislation, certification and regulation; industry concerns; applications; operational profiles; business opportunities; and the future of UAS. The course is developed and taught by Embry-Riddle Worldwide faculty with UAS operations and research experience.

“The College of Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Worldwide is meeting the unique workforce development needs of the growing UAS niche of our industry,” said College of Aeronautics Dean Ken Witcher. “Leveraging Worldwide’s global reach and connections with FAA-designated UAS test sites, the college has developed and will be delivering a focused UAS short course to meet the current demands of Nevada’s UAS work force.”

The State of Nevada, along with five other applicants, was designated as a UAS test site operator by the FAA in late 2013. Worldwide was included as an aerospace education provider in Nevada’s winning proposal.

The cost of the course is $500, and continuing education units are available. For more information, visit www.proed.erau.edu/uasvegas or emailtraining@erau.edu.
