Ellen Tauscher to Join Aurora Board

Aurora Flight Sciences announced today that The Honorable Ellen O’Kane Tauscher has been elected to the Aurora Board of Directors.

Tauscher is a former Member of the United States House of Representatives, representing California’s 10th Congressional district. She was first elected in 1996 and served until March 2009, when she was nominated by President Barack Obama as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs. She was confirmed by the Senate on June 25, 2009, and she served in this role until February 6, 2012. Tauscher served as Special Envoy for Strategic Stability and Missile Defense at the State Department from February 7, 2012 until August 31, 2012.

“International arms control agreements are one of the most important factors shaping the future of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS),” said Aurora Chairman John S. Langford. “Congresswoman Tauscher’s experience and expertise in this area make her a terrific addition to the Aurora team.”

Tauscher is currently a Strategic Advisor at Baker Donelson Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. She serves on the Board of Governors at both Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories, and is a Director at Invacare Corporation, EHealth Corporation, the Atlantic Council, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Foundation, the German Marshall Fund, and the National Endowment for Democracy. She was recently named the Independent Board Chair for the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety. She is a graduate of Seton Hall University.
