Elisra, a unit of Elbit Systems, will introduce SPS-65V5, a self protection electronic warfare (EW) system designed to enhance the survivability capabilities of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), at the Paris Air Show, schedule to be held from 17-23 June 2013.

The SPS-65V5 system has been developed from Elbit Systems’ electronic warfare and signals intelligence equipment for manned fighters, utility aircraft, and helicopters development experience.

Elisra General Manager, Edgar Maimon, said that the new protection system features range of sensors to improve intelligence gathering capabilities for the UAS.

“Like other UAS-related systems developed by Elisra, the new protection system complements other Elbit Systems’ developments, thus providing customers with a suite of generic solutions for survivability and intelligence needs,” Maimon added.

Built to meet the Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements of the UAS, the system can be deployed on a variety of UAS platforms, ranging from tactical to high altitude, long endurance conventional (HALE) UAVs.
