Camp Ripley to debut unmanned aircraft training center

CAMP RIPLEY — Camp Ripley will have the grand opening of its Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations Facility on Friday.

Minnesota National Guard members will train at the facility. The 10 a.m. event on Friday will include remarks, a ribbon cutting, site tour and an aircraft demonstration.

The 13,000-square-foot building includes a hanger for the Shadow System, a 475-pound Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System, and the Raven, a four-pound Small Unmanned Aircraft System with a four-foot wing span.
