MAVinci Desktop 3.0 – forecast the ground coverage!

MAVinci_Desktop

Catch a glimpse of the future with the new coverage forcast, even considering the terrain!

MAVinci (www.mavinci.de) presents the latest release of MAVinci Desktop. Along hundreds of minor improvements we have especially worked on expanded assistance while planning your missions. Effects of the terrain on the expected ground coverage can possibly be enormous – especially when working with small overlap values or low flying altitudes. Not considering the terrain could result in large uncovered gaps. You will now be able to forecast the ground coverage and further optimize the flight planning before the flight!

In the screenshot below you see the area of interest in blue. The green, yellow and red colours indicate the coverage forecast (from good to unsufficient coverage).

On top of that the new release enables you to plan your missions more efficiently and to enlarge the coverable area. In case of computation of a digital elevation model/true orthophoto (70-75% overlap in flight and 60% in side direction):

  • 86 ha at 2 cm GSD
  • 226 ha at 5 cm GSD
  • 450 ha at 10 cm GSD

(In case of computation of pseudo orthophotos the area coverable in one flight is more than twice as large. For MAVinci Autopilot versions older than 3.0 these values may be a little smaller.)

Other highlights of this release are:

  • Improved preview of matching images (preview now also exportable as png-file)
  • New matching-image-filer to remove images that are likely to be blurry based on the expected fuzziness
