NuWaves Engineering Awarded Two Contracts For Unmanned Aircraft

NuWaves Engineering, an international Radio Frequency (RF) and Embedded Systems solutions provider, announced recently that it has been awarded two contracts in support of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) programs related to communication data link range extension.

The awards, both from US Department of Defense prime contractors and related to small unmanned aircraft, include developmental work to customize NuWaves’ field-proven NuPower miniature commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) power amplifier (PA) modules. Both programs involve adding bidirectional functionality to NuPower PA modules that will enable their use with halfduplex RF transceivers, which utilize a single RF port for transmitting and receiving data.

Additionally, NuWaves will be providing RF consulting services related to maximizing range and throughput of its various data links to one of the customers.

“NuWaves continues to gain traction in the UAS marketplace by producing miniature, highperformance RF modules that meet UAS customers’ challenging size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) requirements,” said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering. “We’re thrilled to be working closely with UAS vendors, system integrators, and end users to help enhance the performance of wireless communication systems in support of the Warfighter.”
