Sinclair to hold UAS workshop Thursday

Sinclair Community College’s UAS Training and Certification Center, in partnership with Riverside Research Institute, will conduct an Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) workshop Thursday. The one-day workshop will be held 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Building 13, Room 13-103, on Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus.

“UAS presents new business opportunities across multiple sectors. The Dayton region is positioned to be a leader in the UAS industry, leveraging strengths across advanced manufacturing, sensor technology, data analytics and more,” the college said. “This introductory workshop is the second of several offerings by Sinclair’s UAS Training & Certification Center that will provide participants the opportunity to explore and understand this emerging technology as it begins to take shape in the civil and commercial markets.”

The UAS workshop participants will learn more about multiple components and applications of UAS technology and be introduced to specialized technologies, including newly developed sensors, aviation platforms, products, and applications. They will also learn more about the projected UAS market.

UAS course offerings in 2013 will include:

• Jan 24 – Intro to UAS

• Jan 25 – UAS and the Law

• Feb 7–8 – UAS Airspace Applications

• Feb 21 – Current State of UAS Standards and Regulations
