Aitech lands $1 million contract extension as enhanced imaging subsystem provider for UAV program

Aitech Defense Systems Inc., a supplier of ruggedized, embedded, mission-critical computing technologies for military, defense, aerospace and satellite applications, announced on Nov. 1 a contract award to continue to provide the payload processor subsystem for a well-known unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program.

Aitech was awarded a $1 million ongoing production contract to continue to provide the 6U VMEbus single board computer (SBC) and telemetry communications control PMC mezzanine for this program. This award is in addition to a $1 million contract awarded earlier this year.

These processing and control subsystems capture complex, very high-resolution images in daylight or total darkness and communicate these images to the manned ground stations. Aitech delivers and supports advanced, open architecture, embedded VMEbus computing products that meet these performance and environmental demands.

Through the ongoing production contract, Aitech will continued to supply embedded computing board-level components, as well as provide the parts management and component engineering services, under its three-phase COTS Lifecycle+ Program, which offers a minimum of 12 years full product support.

Moshe Tal, president and CEO of Aitech, said, “Our customer designed their system to increase performance over previous generations, while keeping the UAV within its current and compact footprint. Aitech’s highly reliable and low-power products ensure seamless operation and mission success.”

“Receiving this award is a true testament to Aitech’s strategic direction of the past two years: to diligently provide our customers with embedded computing solutions used throughout the growing number of avionics and UAV applications and programs,” Tal added. “We expect follow-on orders for this UAV, and several new orders from other avionics and UAV programs as the year progresses.”
