Argentina and Brazil agree on UAS cooperation
The governments of Argentina and Brazil agreed to advance cooperation to build unmanned aircraft to be used for border surveillance and the fight against drug trafficking. The information was provided by the Brazilian Executive after the meeting between the foreign ministers of both countries.
The Defense Minister Arturo Puricelli, Argentina, and his counterpart Celso Amorim, Brazil held a meeting where they agreed to the production of this type of aircraft with Israeli technology, both for their own use and for sale to other Latin American nations.
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer company signed an agreement last November with Aeroeletrónica systems, local subcontracting Israeli Elbit Systems for the development and commercialization of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
Puricelli said that his country’s military forces require these systems to support the Argentine troops participating in peacekeeping missions of the United Nations Organization (UNO)
