The unmanned aerial systems industry is on the verge of a boom once it’s proven the craft are safe to fly in regular airspace, said the leader of a major UAS maker in Dayton on Tuesday.
Duke Dufresne, senior vice president and general manager of unmanned systems for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, said unmanned systems are poised to become an instrumental part of everyday life.
“But this cultural change will take advocacy and communication on our part,” said Dufresne, one of the speakers at the Ohio UAS Conference hosted by the Dayton Development Coalition this week.
The event, held at Sinclair Community College , drew a sellout crowd of 450 people and included about two dozen exhibitors.
