NAL seeks pvt partners to sell unmanned aerial vehicle

Bangalore, Aug 18 Public sector defence lab, National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) today said it is seeking private partners to sell Micro-Aerial Vehicles (MAVs).

“We want private partnerships for many of our projects. In fact we haven”t got any private partner to commercialise Hansa, a light passenger aircraft,” NAL Director A R Upadhya told reporters here.
“Nevertheless, the Mahindra Group has partnered us to commercialise NM-5, a five-seater aircraft,” he added.

MAV is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and can be used for various strategic and civilian applications.

Upadhya said the Chandigarh police and Karnataka government have come forward to use the MAV for rally monitoring and mapping mining areas respectively.

MAV can also be deployed for surveillance by armed forces and used in disaster management like floods, among others, headded.

NAL also recently signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to commercially manufacture Saras, alight passenger aircraft, he said.

In the next five years, Mahindra Group is looking at USD 125 million to USD 150 million revenue from its aerospace business that includes both sale of aircraft and components, he said.
