Rent-a-Drone

Microdrones

German company Rent-a-Drone have created a revolutionary service, that does what it says on the tin. It seems they will let you hire a Microdrone and fly it yourself  from as little as 190 Euros per hour.

That would be an impressive testament to the control systems of the Microdrone if it proves true.

There is even the opportunity to become part of a franchise network:-

As part of the extension of rent-a-drone, we offer you the opportunity to partner to be. You will receive a protected zip code area and develop your market with your own UAV (purchase or lease).  You support us with a centrally controlled advertising and marketing department, which also gives you orders. Furthermore, we keep you with training, regular partner meetings and relevant documents to date.

You can “rent-a-drone” partners act as both a part-time, or you can build targeted new foothold on a career.

As an aerial photographer of the new generation, you convince your clients not only by pure photography, but also by the possibility of video footage from the air to create and deliver dynamic image data can thus.

Have we piqued your interest?

The service is available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The cost per hour rental seems remarkably low considering the risks involved in UAS flight, especially in the hands of an untrained operator. No mention of insurance or pilot training is made on their site.

Rent-a-drone have not responded to requests for more information. Is this a new company or is a method to pull sales contacts into the system with the promise of cheap hourly rates?

The Microdrone brand found itself in hot water last month when CEO Sven Juerss, told Wirtschaft Woche that his company had sold a unit to Google and hoped to deliver dozens more drones to Google soon.

“The UAVs are well suited to provide timely recording of the map service Google Earth,” says Juerss. Civilian UAVs are unmanned flying vehicles with a range of several thousand meters, which can fly at a speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour.  The aircraft can fully automatically image whole neighborhoods”

Google quickly denied the reports.
